## Summary

A course designed to go beyond the basics and deepen your understanding of gamma spectrometry.  
From interpreting complex spectra to quantitative analysis, via uncertainty management and understanding coincidence phenomena, this course provides the keys to understanding, diagnosing and resolving the advanced issues encountered in gamma spectrometry. **Prerequisites**

- Be able to read, write, understand and speak French
- Have completed Module 3A or an equivalent course

- Correlate energy patterns with gamma spectra
- Read and interpret gamma spectra
- Identify the causes of certain problems that may arise during gamma spectrometry
- Understand low-level measurement and methods for calculating the decision threshold

- A review of radioactivity and energy distributions up to the gamma spectrum, a probabilistic view of radiation-matter interactions
- Qualitative analysis of simple and complex gamma spectra
- Efficiency and quantitative analysis: principles of detector operation,  
    experimental approach and measurement model, total absorption efficiency
- Uncertainties, SD, LD in nuclear measurements: empirical approach to measurement uncertainty and SD, uncertainties as defined by the GUM, Poissonian process, variability and uncertainties"
- Deconvolution
